Welcome To Glycemic Index Food List!

Welcome to GlycemicIndexFoodList.com, the site to come to for the glycemic index food list, and other nutrition information relating to the glycemic index. We have all heard about the term “low GI” but what does a low GI or low glycemic index, mean?

It is all relating to the body’s blood sugar levels and how fast or slow the body digests the sugar in food and the speed of the sugar being released into the blood stream resulting in a high burst of energy followed by a brutal crash or a sustained emission of energy that lasts throughout the day, reducing the craving to snack.

Through the resources we will be placing on this site, we hope that you will find them useful and will be able to make healthier meal choices and eating habits, once you understand what is the glycemic index, how it can be useful to your life and why you should have a glycemic index food list.

My journey into the discovery of the benefits of the glycemic index food list began a few years ago when my mother was diagnosed with diabetes. It was a tough time for the family but ever since, to support our mother, my brothers and sisters now have a habit of eating foods with low glycemic index not only during the family dinner, but also when we eat out. The result? For two of my siblings it has resulted in an incredible weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight. My eldest brother no longer feels the afternoon burnout when his energy levels use to drop in the office. For me personally, I have gained a sense of satisfaction that I am living a healthier life and really thinking about the food I eat before it goes into my mouth, and knowing that I am supporting my mother while she lives with diabetes.

I hope that you will find the resources on this site useful for your health goals, and will be willing to comment and share your stories here.
